Stephen Colbert Hearts Sean!!

Haha, my friend Sean, English major from Boston University, just totally got a shout out from Stephen Colbert…on The Word segment nonetheless! It’s at the very end, but watch the whole thing, it’s a funny segment.

The intern life is a sweet one indeed, sometimes.

I was wandering the livejournal posts of friends and their communities, and happened upon this bit of glorious news:

Anyone been to the GSU lately?

It seems Panda Express has replaced Burger King.

The guys who run the operations of the GSU (and I know them well what with their bribing us with delicious GSU candy during P-Host trainings) need an Unsung Hero award for that stroke of genius. Orange chicken…every day…watch out.

Thug Nasty Summer So Far

Posted in Personal Stuff on June 12th, 2006 by Mike Nguyen – Be the first to comment

Hey all. Nothing extremely important to report on really, but I want to keep this blogging routine down as regularly as I can.

I promised myself I would not be a “Livejournal blogger,” who posts the results of random surveys about myself and my deepest darkest secrets. Lord knows that always ends badly. However, I do want to share my life a little and inject some of my personality and preferences into my blog. After all, that’s what this is here for. Besides, no one reads this blog anyways.

Summer’s going well. Unlike others who complain about their crappy summer job, my internship is still happily enjoyable, even after 3 summers back. So for the two to three people who may or may not read this blog, I think I’ve officially alienated you. Now, onto the good stuff.

Developing this CS Spud game is going slow. But I’m not exactly off schedule either. I just have put in so little work. I want to finish my two game programming books (one in C, other in C++) by the end of this month. I’m on Chapter 3 of the C one.

I’ve hit a creative block with the redesign of this blog. Although, what I do have is smoking hot. It’s very watery, the header image is one of my favorite whale shark pictures that I took when I went to Atlanta. The color scheme flows from there. I’m worried about my narrow left sidebar and I have no idea what I want to do with the content area. Being stuck in the drawing board is kind of lame, since I really want to get to the coding.

The reason why I have no time for all of this is because of my determination to not be fat and my continuing obsession with reality tv. After work, I’m either running, playing tennis, or hitting the driving range. After that, it’s shower and dinner. And then, it’s time for my shows, that precious 8pm-10pm block of quality television. If there’s nothing good on, I get to program, yay! If there is, I’m glued to the tv until bed time (approximately 10:30).

Other fun things I’ve done so far:

    INROADS
Special Olympics volunteering, where I perfected my Money Mike: Thug Nasty look (thanks Ana).
    Monday Tennis Class

Things I’m looking forward to:

    INROADS
Boston Fourth of July weekend? Let’s make it happen, friends.
New York City hopefully after LDI.
    Lots more programming

I do live an unfortunate life indeed.

Two More Whale Sharks!

Wow, found this awesome bit of news tonight. The Georgia Aquarium just added two female whale sharks to their whale shark exhibit, making a grand total of four freakin whale sharks, the largest fish in the world! Laura, I guess there’s no option except to go back to the world’s largest aquarium and see the new female whale sharks. For those that haven’t gone, that aquarium is beyond awesome. Here are some pics of either Ralph or Norton, the two current whale sharks, when we went over Winter break.

Summer reminiscing

I hope I spelled that right. Speaking of which, how awesome was the ABC televised Spelling Bee? I mean, it was good on ESPN, but man, on high def ABC, the drama was palpable. That poor girl that came in third, getting eliminated, then brought back in, and then losing again. And the cruelty of not having extra seats for eliminated finalists and then sticking a camera and a microphone in their face as they lose. Man, just great tv. Between the annoying home school kid and the annoying Middle Eastern kid(s), I’m glad the girls won out. Although, I thought the Canadian girl would be much more marketable as a champion.

And this was one of the prettier ones. I love nerds.
Man, ugly kids hanging their heads in shame always get me.
